We were once kings...

This entry is to all my African American brothers and sisters...

Growing up in the south one tends to see life in a different way. Some will say that southerners' thought processes are slower than most, but we tend to fair better in life, or maybe that's my own personal opinion lol. One issue I will say that looms in the dark, no pun intended, is race. First off race in America is one of those issues that have not been discussed in a effective way... Still to this day is the race card is played, old wounds will resurface and hate still is the driving force behind any view point...

Well instead of discussing who's right or wrong I would like to speak to my African American siblings, and ask some pertinent questions that just spin my mind sometimes... I've always had a hard time understanding why are we so hard on each other in a negative way? It's almost as if we have the inability to see people as they are... As a people we don't ever take the blame for the lot of our problems, especially those in our own community. We always want to blame the other man and not the brother man. The one issue I will lead into is individuality... Yes this is a constant topic of discussion, but it is so important to me to push this message. Being individuals and unique is what sets us apart from other races... We sometimes forget that we were once Kings and Queens, and being of royal blood we have forgotten to walk as royalty.

We also lost the ability to think for ourselves due to the fact that we love filtered messages and we are willing to believe anything that is told to us instead of seeking the truth... Through this we have consistently found our race falling into a deeper abyss of mental slavery that we really don't care to remove ourselves from... we call it keeping it real...

Keeping it real also constitutes as repression of our creator by way of repression of self... When you aren't being yourself, you aren't walking with God. You are conforming to an ideal that isn't real... we shouldn't have to wait until half of our lives are gone to realize that "We" kept ourselves at the perpetual stagnant state of immobility. Let's do better with self first, face our own demons and then learn from our mistakes, instead of living in a concentric predictable way of life.

We can no longer live in our stereotypes... it's time for the pants to come up and lets inject some self-respect back into our culture. Through such dealings of caring for self leads to growth in the community, because a standard of living becomes the foundation.

In saying all of this, there is work to be done so that we can reclaim our royal blood line as a people. Throughout the history of America no one ever thought they would see the day that we would have a Black president and it is my hope that living in this moment jump starts a movement for us as a people into a more positive direction. We have to support each other and clean up our identity in America. Until this happens we will continue to cripple the very genius that has us feared as a people...

  1. Wow chris didn't know u had it in you to be this straight up. I completely agree with you, we no longer hold each other accountable for the way we act, or the ignorance we think. Its very true that we have given up on each other as a race, and it is time to pull back, reevaluate and set a different pace.
I on the other hand is/are harder on the Black Folk, not because i'm stuck up or because i'm from cali, its because i think that we need to hold ourselves to a higher standard, we need to realize that we are the ones holding ourselves in bondage. We are what we make ourselves. If we continue to think the way we do, think that we are inferior to all other races, then we will be. If we hold ourselves accountable for our actions, our mental and physical beings then we will view the change that we are hoping will occur. We need to change the way people think, act and carry themselves. How are we allowing children to raise up in the ignorance that we hate but not doing anything to change? How are we hating ones actions but turn around and do the same thing? This catch-22 will always occur unless we take a stance against it. It sounds far fetch to change people one at a time, but its a start. Educate one, hoping that they will learn and pass on the knowledge.
